ABOUT THIS SECTION

For the final project for the course, 5501 Entrepreneurship and Creative Producing students were tasked with creating a fifteen-page marketing plan for our thesis film.

Shown below are three aspects of this marketing plan:

FILM FESTIVALS

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL LIST

This Film Festival List was created in accordance with the outline for the final project for 5501 Entrepreneurship and Creative Producing. This project was a very informative exercise, as although I didn't submit my thesis film to any of these festivals, I learned a lot about the process of finding, funding, and submitting to a film festival.

Reasoning for these festivals:

Cinéfest Sudbury:
As a First Nations Artist who has family living in and around the Sudbury area, submitting to this festival would be beneficial on a personal level.

Bushwick Film Festival:
The Bushwick film festival highlights emerging directors and student directors from all over the world, especially people of colour. Being both a student and an Aboriginal writer/director I perfectly fit the criteria of this Festival.

Hamilton Film Festival:
Local Film festivals are a great way to experience the festival market without spending too much time and money on air travel and overnight accommodations in out-of-province Festivals. The great thing about the Hamilton Film Festival is that all Canadian content gets in!

Toronto Indie night:
This Film Festival is described as a safe haven for filmmakers of all levels to showcase their skills and talents. There are no awards, no competitions, and no fees! The Toronto Indie Night is a fun way to express yourself as an artist while showcasing your skills and meeting other artists.

ONE PAGE

ABOUT THE ONE PAGE

One Page's are a 'calling card' or 'business card' that captures the theme and message of a film, making it easy to sell the concept to would-be buyers of your project and prospective career opportunities.

Using Photoshop I took a still image from the film and ported it into Illustrator. From there I added the hook, the names of the cast members and myself, and my contact information (not shown on this version). The typeface sits directly in the middle of our two main characters, bursting out words from the sparkling background lights. This keeps on-theme with the movie, as even though Arthur finds himself in a very dark place while packing up his old apparent there remains hope in the form of a new adventure with Audrey.

The distressed look of the image is meant to make it look like an old photograph, as in the film an old photograph from Arthur and Audrey's time at camp is very important. The film is set in motion when Arthur finds this photo of Peter, Audrey, and himself. As the goal of the One Page is to capture the theme and message of a film I chose these two aspects to represent the film, the warmth of the lights drawing Arthur and Audrey together and the look of a distressed old photo.

POSTER

ABOUT THE POSTER

This image of the city in darkness is contrasted by the light of the blue sky above. I chose this image as it represents the themes of my story very well. Arthur finds himself in his dark apartment, packing away the memories of his time working at a camp. Only when he is able to conquer his darkness will he be able to live life in the bright sunlight of a healthy relationship.

The image used for the Poster was taken from the website Unsplash, a great royalty-free photo-sharing website. All credit for the photo goes to Jane Palash.
