PACKING LIGHT
FILM & MULTIPLATFROM STORYTELLING
THESIS PROJECT
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Humber College
Film & Multiplatform Storytelling
During my time in Humber College's intensive Film & Multiplatform Storytelling program, I was given the tools and know-how to write, direct, and produce my very own short film, PACKING LIGHT. As stated in the program's name, the thesis project was to create a multiplatform project, so, I accompanied my film with an Instagram page.
The idea behind using an Instagram page is that it allows me to fill in some information on the background of the story as alluded to by the characters in the film. As well, it allowed me to highlight my third artistic skill, illustrating.
ABOUT THE FILM
“Facing the biggest adventure of his life, Arthur must decide what luggage he will be bringing with him, physical and emotional.”

Ten years after meeting at camp, Arthur and Audrey have made the long-overdue decision to move in with each other. While packing his apartment, Arthur sorts through some old possessions which bring up some good memories and old anxieties. These anxieties conjure up Arthur’s imaginary friend Peter, who is the living embodiment of his fears and negative values. In order to move on with his life, Arthur must stand up to Peter and conquer his fears, anxieties, and pain.
ABOUT THE INSTAGRAM PAGE
Included in the film are sentimental items and dialogue that refer to a time when Arthur, Audrey, and Peter worked as counsellors at two different camps. Arthur and Audrey met one summer when their two respective camps came together for a "Staff Training Weekend". The Instagram Page fills in these missing moments and expands upon the environment in which this took place. As well, The Instagram Page hosts hand-drawn portraits of the cast and crew, this was done as a personalized 'thank you' to these members.

The Art can be found both here on this website under the 'Art Gallery' tab, as well as on the official Instagram page for the film.
